Welcome
to
Hard Times
As a society we’ve never been more obsessed than we are today with taking care of our body and looks. New fitness concepts are being launched every day.
The Hard Times gym provides an opportunity to combine restoration of the body with healthy frustration of the spirit.
In their installations, artists Elinor Milchan, Antuan Rodriguez, Viktor Frešo and exhibition concept author Erik Kessels refer to the fact that we live in a world divided by opinions and fences. A difficult-to-navigate post-truth world of fake news. A world of power, political and religious conflicts. A world of migrants and activists, victims and terrorists, populists and “strong leaders“. A world where attempts to reach an agreement often degenerate into a shouting match, in which neither side hears the other. A world where fear becomes political commodity.
Dictators and peacemakers. Left and right. Extremists and liberals. And those who try to survive. Us and Them? More freedom or more security? Common interest or common enemy? Global problems that don’t affect us?
Welcome to hard times.
